Bevon Jacobs, a 22-year-old batter from New Zealand, has received his first international call-up to the Black Caps' T20 squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, starting this Saturday in Mount Maunganui. Jacobs, known for his powerful hitting, was recently acquired by the Mumbai Indians during the IPL auction for approximately NZ $61,000, despite having played only nine domestic T20 matches. Selector Sam Wells highlighted Jacobs' talent and potential, emphasizing his strong technique and temperament in longer formats. The T20 series will also mark the beginning of Mitchell Santner's full-time captaincy in white-ball cricket. Notably, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway are unavailable due to commitments in the SA20 league in South Africa.
