Kemba Walker Retires, Joins Hornets' Coaching Staff

Four-time NBA All-Star and UConn legend Kemba Walker announced his retirement from professional basketball on Tuesday after a 12-year NBA career and a final season overseas with AS Monaco. Walker, who played most notably with the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets, where he is the all-time leading scorer, will join the Hornets' coaching staff as a player enhancement coach under new head coach Charles Lee. Walker's career highlights include leading UConn to an NCAA title in 2011 and making the All-Star team four times. Despite his impressive career, his chances of making the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame are considered slim. Walker's coaching role is expected to benefit current Hornets players like LaMelo Ball and Vasilije Micic. Many fans and commentators believe the Hornets should retire Walker's jersey number in recognition of his contributions to the franchise.
