LaGuardia Airport Tops Forbes Inaugural Air Travel Awards

LaGuardia Airport in New York City has been ranked as the best airport in the United States by Forbes Travel Guide following a comprehensive $8 billion renovation. Previously criticized, the airport's transformation included new terminal facilities, expanded dining options, and modern amenities such as hands-free bag drop and Digital ID screening. This accolade was part of Forbes' inaugural Air Travel Awards, based on a survey of 5,000 travel experts and frequent fliers. Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton emphasized the airport's evolution from a 'national laughingstock' to a source of regional pride. The renovation, completed with partners like Delta Air Lines, has also received other accolades, including the Skytrax World's 'best new airport terminal' and the UNESCO Prix Versailles for modernization. LaGuardia's enhancements, highlighted by the addition of world-class restaurants and shops, have made it a destination in its own right.
