Canada Post Restores Full Service After Strike

Canada Post has announced the restoration of full service levels for domestic parcels following a month-long strike by more than 55,000 workers, which ended on December 17. While on-time service guarantees for domestic parcels have resumed, Canadians can still expect delays for transaction mail, neighborhood mail, and international items due to a backlog created during the strike. The Crown corporation has expressed gratitude for Canadians' patience as it processes accumulated volumes amidst significant holiday traffic. Despite the stabilization of operations, delays for letters, bills, and statements may persist for several days. Canada Post also indicated that business customers should anticipate delays in neighborhood mail deliveries as they work through remaining backlogs. Overall, the postal service is gradually returning to normal but cautions that some issues may continue into early 2024.
