IDF Conducts Repeated Strikes on Hodeidah Port, Targets Houthi Military Infrastructure
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a large-scale airstrike on Houthi targets at the port of Hodeidah in Yemen, aiming to halt missile and naval attacks against Israel and vessels bound for Israeli ports in the Red Sea. Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that Yemen's fate will mirror that of Tehran, signaling a stern warning to the Iranian-backed Houthis who use the port to transfer weapons for attacks against Israel and its allies. The strikes targeted military infrastructure, including engineering equipment used to rebuild the port, fuel tanks, naval vessels, and boats linked to Houthi operations, with the IDF emphasizing the Houthis’ exploitation of civilian infrastructure for military purposes. Katz asserted that Israel will continue to act decisively and at any location to defend itself against ongoing Houthi aggression, which has persisted despite previous Israeli operations. The intensified campaign comes amid broader regional tensions following hostilities initiated by Hamas in Gaza. The Houthis confirmed the port was attacked but provided limited details, while Israel’s military framed the strikes as necessary to prevent the reestablishment of terror infrastructure supporting missile launches at Israel.
