Apple, Samsung Expected to Launch Crease-Free Foldable Phones by 2026

Apple's forthcoming foldable iPhone, expected to launch in the second half of 2026, aims to solve a persistent issue in foldable phones by featuring a "crease-free" inner display. The device will reportedly use a laser-drilled metal plate supplied by Fine M-Tec, the same component Samsung plans to use for its Galaxy Z Fold 8, which could result in a more seamless screen without the visible crease seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The foldable iPhone is anticipated to have a 7.8-inch inner display, 5.5-inch outer display, two rear cameras, a front camera, and a Touch ID power button rather than Face ID. Pricing leaks suggest the iPhone Fold may be more affordable than initially expected, ranging between $1,800 and $2,000, positioning it competitively against Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung, meanwhile, is aggressively promoting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with multiple discounts and trade-in deals, including a secret $100 discount through its Shop app, bringing the effective price down to as low as $899 with trade-ins. Samsung also offers various promotions, such as a double trade-in deal and free Galaxy Buds, to attract buyers ahead of Apple's anticipated foldable iPhone launch.
