Missing Utah Teen Found Safe in Uinta Mountains

Fourteen-year-old Maya Suisse, who went missing in the Uinta Mountains after leaving her family's campsite, was found safe following a 25-hour search. After becoming disoriented, Maya stayed calm and waited near a trail sign to improve her chances of being found. The search, coordinated by the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, involved helicopters, horse-mounted teams, and volunteers. Maya was located by a helicopter crew near a loop trail and was quickly reunited with her family, sustaining only minor sunburn. Authorities praised her composure and highlighted the importance of staying visible when lost. The successful rescue was closely followed by the local community and officials.
