Transnistria Receives Gas Supplies Through Russian Loan

Transnistria has resumed gas supplies following a critical loan from Russia, with deliveries facilitated through Hungary's MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG. Separatist leader Vadim Krasnoselsky announced that the gas supply, which began on February 14, was made possible due to Russian financial assistance and coordination with the Russian Ministry of Energy. The region faced an energy crisis after Russian gas shipments halted on January 1 when Ukraine refused to extend a transit agreement. Moldova's Prime Minister Dorin Recean confirmed that Moldova would not obstruct the gas deliveries, indicating a degree of cooperation amid the regional energy crisis. This situation highlights Transnistria's reliance on Russian resources and the complex geopolitical dynamics affecting energy distribution in Eastern Europe.
