Salmonella Outbreak in Five Canadian Provinces

Canada is experiencing a salmonella outbreak linked to Sweet Cream brand mini pastries, with 61 confirmed cases and 17 hospitalizations across five provinces: Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and New Brunswick. Quebec has reported the highest number of cases. The recalled products, distributed to bakeries, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments, include four-kilogram boxes and one-kilogram trays with best-before dates from June 17, 2025, to November 15, 2025. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall, advising consumers to discard the products or return them to the point of purchase. People affected by the outbreak range in age from 3 to 88, with the majority being female, and symptoms include fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. The CFIA also notes the risk of severe complications for young children, pregnant individuals, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
