Greenville Officer Killed in Line of Duty Shooting

Officer Cooper Dawson of the Greenville Police Department was shot and killed while pursuing a suspect on foot following a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Pickett Street on Monday night. The suspect ambushed Officer Dawson in a wooded area, shooting him multiple times, but Dawson managed to return fire and injure the suspect. Both were taken to the hospital, with Officer Dawson later succumbing to his injuries at Medical City Plano. Chief Chris Smith expressed condolences for Dawson, who was a respected officer and had previously served at the Garland Police Department.
