Markram, Matthews Named ICC Players of June 2025

Aiden Markram of South Africa was named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2025 after his decisive all-round performance in the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord’s, where he scored 136 runs in the successful fourth-innings chase of 282 and took two crucial wickets, including Steve Smith. Markram edged out Kagiso Rabada and Pathum Nissanka for the award and credited his teammates, especially Rabada and captain Temba Bavuma, for their roles in South Africa's first senior ICC trophy in 27 years. He also shared a pivotal 147-run partnership with Bavuma during the chase. On the women's side, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews won her fourth ICC Women’s Player of the Month award after strong all-round performances in both ODIs and T20Is against South Africa. Markram described the award and victory at Lord’s as a career highlight. The ICC Player of the Month awards continue to honor exceptional individual efforts in international cricket.
