Director Confirms Anna Kendrick's Absence in Accountant 2, Teases Return for Sequel

Anna Kendrick, who played Dana Cummings in the original 2016 film The Accountant, is absent from the newly released sequel, The Accountant 2. Director Gavin O’Connor explained that this was always the intention, as the sequel focuses on the relationship and unresolved issues between Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) and his estranged brother Brax (Jon Bernthal), rather than continuing the previous love story. O’Connor and screenwriter Bill Dubuque wanted to create a 'buddy picture' centered on the brothers, and felt there was not enough room for Kendrick's character in this installment. However, both the director and Kendrick have indicated strong interest in her returning for a potential third film, which would likely focus on Christian’s quest for love and connection. Kendrick has confirmed she is 'a hundred percent in' if asked to reprise her role. The creative team has always envisioned The Accountant as a trilogy, with each film exploring different aspects of the main character’s life.
