Chainguard raises
Chainguard Inc., a cybersecurity startup based in Kirkland, WA, has successfully raised $140 million in Series C funding, increasing its valuation to $1.12 billion. Led by Redpoint Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and IVP, this funding round is part of the company's efforts to expand its secure container image offerings, which address vulnerabilities in open-source software. Chainguard's customer base has grown over fivefold year-over-year, with significant increases in annual recurring revenue and employee count. The company provides hardened versions of over 700 open-source projects to help organizations secure their software supply chains. CEO Dan Lorenc emphasized the importance of aligning developer and security priorities to manage vulnerabilities effectively in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Chainguard also plans to enhance its product offerings to include solutions for emerging technologies such as AI.
