Inside NBA Show Moving to ESPN Amid NBA Rights Shakeup
ESPN's top NBA broadcast team, currently consisting of Mike Breen, Doris Burke, and Richard Jefferson, may be reshuffled after just one season due to a lack of chemistry and new opportunities for Jefferson with Amazon Prime Video. Doris Burke's position is not guaranteed next season, though Mike Breen remains locked in as the lead play-by-play announcer, with Tim Legler as a potential addition. Meanwhile, the iconic TNT show "Inside the NBA," featuring Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson, will move to ESPN/ABC starting with the 2025-26 season, but ESPN plans to preserve the show's distinctive style and give it editorial independence similar to that granted to "The Pat McAfee Show." Barkley, despite having seven years left on his TNT contract, intends to work only two more years. The show will continue to air live during major NBA events and lead ESPN’s pregame and halftime programming, with production remaining in Atlanta and key personnel retained. The NBA's ratings have rebounded strongly this season, with commissioner Adam Silver highlighting the highest-rated playoff opening weekend in 25 years.
