Padres Recall Hart, Option Cruz Amid Rotation Changes
Kyle Hart has been recalled from Triple-A El Paso to start Wednesday's game for the San Diego Padres against the Miami Marlins, replacing Michael King, who is on the 15-day injured list with a shoulder injury. Hart, who opened the season in the Padres' rotation but was demoted after posting a 6.00 ERA in five starts, worked on improving his effectiveness against right-handed hitters in Triple-A, where he recorded a 2.29 ERA over 19⅔ innings despite some control issues. Padres manager Mike Shildt is adjusting the rotation to give Nick Pivetta extra rest during a challenging stretch of games. Yu Darvish's return to the rotation remains uncertain as he continues to recover from an elbow problem. The Padres are seeking a series sweep of the Marlins after back-to-back wins. In a corresponding move, Omar Cruz was optioned to Triple-A.
