LA County: Update Address for Wildfire Tax Refunds

Los Angeles County officials are urging victims of the January Eaton and Palisades wildfires to update their mailing addresses after hundreds of property tax refund checks and reassessment notices were returned as undeliverable due to destroyed homes. The County Assessor's Office reassessed properties in the disaster zones, resulting in temporary reductions in property values and tax refunds, including for those who did not apply for relief. Approximately 9,700 refund checks totaling $26 million have been mailed, but about 330 checks and 2,000 reassessment notices could not be delivered because of invalid addresses.
