Thai Grand Prix Set as MotoGP Season Opener

MotoGP has officially announced that the Thai Grand Prix will replace Qatar as the season opener for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, taking place at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram from March 2, 2025. This marks the first time in over 25 years that the MotoGP season will begin in Southeast Asia, reflecting the region's significance for the sport and its fanbase. Over 800,000 spectators have attended events at Buriram since its debut in 2018, underscoring the venue's popularity. Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta expressed excitement for the event, emphasizing the passionate local support and the track's quality for racing. The change also opens opportunities for Thailand to leverage this event for economic stimulation in line with its Sport Tourism policy. Additionally, the first race will feature significant rider movements, adding to the anticipation among fans.
