ASEAN Condemns Israeli Attacks in Gaza

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have both condemned Israel's military actions in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid. The OIC urged member states to impose sanctions on Israel for its 'genocidal' actions, which have resulted in approximately 34,683 Palestinian deaths, predominantly women and children, since the violence began on October 7, 2023. Meanwhile, ASEAN's foreign ministers expressed grave concern over the humanitarian crisis, emphasizing the need for unimpeded access to aid and support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. ASEAN also accused Israel of failing to comply with UN ceasefire resolutions and the International Court of Justice's advisory opinions regarding the conflict. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated significantly, with calls for a peaceful resolution and the realization of a two-state solution.
