The couple, who have been together for 34 years, surprised Suzanne with the wedding, which was officiated by Branson, following Alan's playful remark in January about wanting a holiday. The ceremony took place on August 27, and Suzanne was taken by surprise, having thought they were merely on vacation. Alan, who became a household name due to the ITV drama 'Mr Bates vs The Post Office', has fought for justice after the Horizon IT scandal wrongfully implicated many sub-postmasters in theft. Their nuptials also mark a new chapter as Suzanne will now be addressed as Lady Bates. Following the wedding, Branson expressed joy in being part of their love story and commended their dedication to each other.
