The ceremony took place on August 27, and Suzanne was taken by surprise, having thought they were merely on vacation. Alan, who became a household name due to the ITV drama 'Mr Bates vs The Post Office', has fought for justice after the Horizon IT scandal wrongfully implicated many sub-postmasters in theft. Their nuptials also mark a new chapter as Suzanne will now be addressed as Lady Bates.
