Kingman SWAT Standoff Ends in Fatal Shooting
A SWAT standoff in Kingman, Arizona, ended with the fatal shooting of 56-year-old Jack Lagerwey, who allegedly poured gasoline inside a home and threatened to ignite it before refusing to surrender. Mohave County deputies responded to the initial reports, and after several hours of failed negotiations, Lagerwey emerged from the house and pointed a weapon at SWAT officers from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and Bullhead City Police Department. Officers opened fire, striking Lagerwey, who was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and later died. No officers were injured during the incident. The Lake Havasu City Police Department is investigating the shooting, and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave. This marks the 16th officer-involved shooting outside Maricopa County and the 26th statewide in Arizona in 2025.
