Firefighter Kevin Skinner Dies Battling Fire

Kevin Skinner, a veteran firefighter with the Orange County Fire Authority, tragically died of cardiac arrest while battling a residential structure fire in Laguna Niguel, California, on January 5, 2024. The incident occurred early in the morning, and despite immediate life-saving efforts by his fellow firefighters and subsequent transport to Providence Mission Hospital, Skinner did not survive. He was a dedicated member of the OCFA since 1999 and previously served in the U.S. Navy. Skinner is remembered for his commitment to the community and his ability to make those around him feel welcome. His loss is deeply felt by his colleagues, family, and the broader community. He is survived by his wife and three children.
