Calgary Man Charged After Tunnel Discovered Into Upstairs Apartment
A Calgary man, Ben Edward Maize, 46, has been charged after allegedly tunneling through the floor of his apartment into his upstairs neighbour's unit on Coach Hill Road SW, violating her personal space and security. The victim, who had ongoing issues with Maize, discovered a large hole in her floor despite her door being locked upon returning home after being away. Police responded to the break-and-enter report on September 5 and executed a search warrant on September 8, taking Maize into custody. He faces charges including break and enter with intent to commit criminal harassment, mischief to property over $5,000, and two counts of disobeying a court order. Insp. Keith Hurley described the incident as a deeply disturbing violation and emphasized the importance of safety in one's residence. Maize is scheduled to appear in court on September 12.
