Austin Butler to Star in New 'American Psycho'

Austin Butler has been cast as Patrick Bateman in a new adaptation of 'American Psycho' directed by Luca Guadagnino, known for films like 'Call Me By Your Name' and 'Challengers'. This Lionsgate project will not be a remake of the 2000 film but rather a fresh adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel, with a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns. Guadagnino’s version is expected to focus more on erotic elements than the original film's horror satire while exploring the dual life of Bateman, an investment banker and serial killer set in 1980s New York. The project has sparked mixed reactions, especially since Jacob Elordi, previously rumored for the role, was not chosen. Additional casting and a release date have yet to be announced.
