UT System Expands Promise Plus Program

The University of Texas System is set to implement an expanded 'Promise Plus' program that offers tuition-free education to students from families earning $100,000 or less, starting in the fall of 2025. This expansion, pending final approval from the Board of Regents, will be funded by a $35 million investment and aims to make higher education more accessible across its nine academic institutions, including UT Austin and UT Dallas. Previously, the program covered students with family incomes up to $65,000. Chancellor James B. Milliken praised the initiative as a 'game changer' for improving college access in Texas. The move aligns with recent state commitments to freeze tuition hikes and increase educational funding. The program requires students to be Texas residents, enroll full-time, and apply for financial aid to qualify.
