Ghana's Black Queens Drawn in WAFCON Group C

The Black Queens of Ghana have been drawn into Group C for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. This tournament marks Ghana's return after missing the last two editions, with their last qualification being the 2022 tournament. The competition, which will occur in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025, features 12 teams divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the quarter-finals. Group A includes hosts Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo, while Group B consists of Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. Coach Nora Hauptle is aiming for a strong performance, as semifinal qualification would secure Ghana a spot in the FIFA Women’s World Cup after an 18-year absence.
