Abu Dhabi AI Sector Expands 61% to Lead MENA Innovation Hub

Abu Dhabi's artificial intelligence (AI) sector has experienced a remarkable 61% growth between June 2023 and June 2024, now hosting 673 AI companies and positioning the emirate as the fastest-growing AI hub in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Globally, there are approximately 90,904 AI companies, making Abu Dhabi's concentration notable on the world stage. The first half of 2025 saw the launch of 150 new AI firms, driven by strategic investments, advanced infrastructure, and cross-sector demand, with over 58% of these companies focusing on innovation, research, and consultancy. This surge is supported by a robust ecosystem involving institutions such as the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), Technology Innovation Institute (TII), and hubs like AI71, Hub71, G42, and Space42 GIQ. Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri of the Abu Dhabi Chamber emphasized the sector’s evolution from early adoption to real-world transformation, highlighting strong collaboration among government, industry, and global technology leaders. Abu Dhabi's strategic initiatives and research-driven environment are rapidly establishing it as a global leader in AI-driven enterprise, innovation, and research.
