Man Pleads Guilty to Triple Murder in Crossbow Attack on BBC Presenter's Family

Kyle Clifford, 26, has pleaded guilty to the murders of BBC commentator John Hunt's wife, Carol, 61, and their daughters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, during a violent attack at their Bushey home on July 9, 2024. Using a crossbow and knife, Clifford killed the women and also faces charges of false imprisonment and possession of offensive weapons. He initially pleaded not guilty to the murders but changed his plea during a court appearance via video link from Belmarsh Prison. The attack has sparked renewed discussions on crossbow regulations in the UK, as current laws do not require licensing for ownership. Following the attack, the Home Secretary indicated a need for a review of crossbow laws, but no specific proposals have been made yet. Clifford is scheduled to stand trial later this year for an additional charge of raping Louise, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
