Police Shot Man Outside Taree Hospital
A man in his 30s was shot dead by police outside Manning Base Hospital in Taree, NSW, after allegedly pointing a firearm at officers. The incident occurred around 12:55 PM following reports of the man discharging a weapon into the air earlier in the day at a nearby location in Wingham. Upon arrival, police engaged with the man, who refused to lower his weapon, leading to the use of deadly force by officers. Immediate first aid was rendered, but the man died shortly after being transported into the hospital. No other individuals were harmed during the incident, and a critical incident investigation is underway, with oversight from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. An independent review will also be conducted to ensure accountability and transparency regarding the events.
