Minnesota Student Detained by ICE Over DUI, Lawsuit Filed

Doğukan Günaydin, a Turkish graduate student at the University of Minnesota, was detained by ICE, prompting protests and concerns over his rights and the nature of the arrest. Initially, speculation suggested that his detention was linked to pro-Palestinian protests; however, federal officials clarified that it stemmed from a prior DUI conviction that led to the revocation of his visa. Günaydin's attorney filed a lawsuit claiming that the arrest violated his rights, arguing that the DUI should not have led to his deportation.
