Texas Mother Charged Manslaughter After Scalding Bath Death of 8-Month-Old

Jatoria Renae Cleamons, a 21-year-old Texas mother, is accused of causing the death of her 8-month-old son, Courtlyn Cleamons, by placing him in scalding hot bathwater after becoming frustrated that he had soiled his diaper. Emergency responders found the infant undergoing CPR at a home in Hooks, Texas, on February 4, but he died about two weeks later due to severe thermal injuries. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as scalding burns and ruled the manner of death a homicide. Cleamons admitted to investigators that she gave her son an extremely hot bath, leading to the fatal injuries.
