Two Men Charged in Brisbane Kidnapping Case

Two men have been charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 52-year-old Van Dam Nguyen in Brisbane's southwest. Coen James Keneally, 32, was arrested and charged with murder, armed robbery, grievous bodily harm, kidnapping, and torture following a police investigation that spanned multiple locations, including a commercial business in Wacol. Nguyen was reportedly assaulted on January 5 and died two days later in a specialist care facility after sustaining significant head injuries. His two friends were also injured during the incident, which police believe involved a planned meetup and subsequent violence under the threat of extreme force. Samuel Vernon, 31, was previously charged with similar offenses related to the case and has been remanded in custody. Both men's matters are set to be heard in court later this month as forensic examinations continue.
