A ticket sold in Sugar Land, Texas, won the $800 million Mega Millions jackpot on September 10, 2024, marking it as the seventh-largest jackpot in the game's history. The winner opted for the cash payout of $404.2 million before taxes, and the ticket was purchased at a Murphy USA gas station. This win comes after a long stretch without a jackpot winner since June, when a ticket sold in Illinois claimed a $560 million prize. In addition to the jackpot, four tickets sold in California, Florida, New York, and Washington matched five numbers, each winning $1 million. The Mega Millions jackpot will reset to $20 million for the next drawing on September 13, 2024. The winning numbers drawn were 1, 2, 16, 24, 66, and a Mega Ball of 6 with a 4x Megaplier.
