Haiti has taken a crucial step towards restoring its democratic process by establishing a provisional electoral council, the first significant move to hold general elections since 2016. The council, formed by the transitional presidential council, currently includes representatives for seven of the nine seats, with the remaining two expected to be announced soon. International support has been mobilized to address the security issues, with troops from Kenya and Jamaica deployed as part of a U.N.-backed mission. The electoral council will be responsible for outlining the legal framework and planning the upcoming elections.
