Mari Selvaraj, the acclaimed Tamil director, is set to release his new film 'Vaazhai' on August 23, with the trailer recently unveiled to significant buzz. The film, inspired by true events, portrays the struggles of banana plantation workers and highlights themes of lost childhood and community aspirations. Notable figures from Tamil cinema, including Mani Ratnam, praised Selvaraj's work during the trailer launch event, underscoring the collaborative spirit in Kollywood. The film features a cast that includes Ponvel, Raghul, and Nikhila Vimal, with music composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Originally intended for a direct OTT release, 'Vaazhai' will now be released in theaters, competing with another anticipated film, 'Kottukkaali'. This marks Selvaraj's debut in film production, co-produced with his wife under their banner Navvi Studios.
