Christine Sinclair Announces NWSL Retirement
Christine Sinclair, the all-time leading goal scorer in international soccer, will retire at the end of the 2024 National Women's Soccer League season. The 41-year-old Canadian forward, with 190 goals in 331 international appearances, has been a pivotal figure for both her national team and her club, Portland Thorns. Sinclair, who retired from international play last December, helped the Thorns secure three NWSL championships in 2013, 2017, and 2022. She is one of the few players to have remained with the same NWSL team since its inception in 2013, scoring a record 64 regular-season goals for the Thorns. Sinclair's career includes an Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games and participation in six World Cups. The Thorns plan to honor her during their final regular-season game on November 1st.
