A Ford F-150 Lightning truck used in a deadly New Year's Day attack in New Orleans was rented through the Turo app from a host in Houston, Texas. The suspect, Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, reportedly drove the truck into a crowd, resulting in at least 10 deaths and multiple injuries, and was observed heading towards New Orleans before the incident. An ISIS flag was found in the vehicle, prompting the FBI to investigate potential terrorist connections. The truck was deactivated on Turo following the attack, and the company expressed its heartbreak over the incident, stating they are cooperating with federal authorities. Explosive devices found at the scene were deemed viable, leading to hotel evacuations and controlled detonations. Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed the investigation is being treated as an act of terrorism.
