The Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) initiated the strike due to unmet demands, while the government claims the deal will only involve investment in infrastructure improvements. Meanwhile, passengers on Singapore Airlines flight SQ893 experienced a four-hour delay on the tarmac at Hong Kong International Airport due to a technical issue, which ultimately led to the flight's cancellation. Passengers were informed of the delay early in the afternoon and were provided with refreshments while waiting. After the cancellation announcement at 7:30 PM, they disembarked at 8 PM and were rebooked on alternative flights. Singapore Airlines apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized the priority of safety for all customers and crew.
