Ryo Hirakawa Joins Haas as Reserve Driver

Ryo Hirakawa has officially joined the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team as a reserve driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season, following a brief stint at Alpine. The 31-year-old Japanese driver, who is a 2022 Le Mans winner, will participate in four practice sessions this season, starting with the Bahrain Grand Prix. He will replace rookie Oliver Bearman in Bahrain and Mexico, and Esteban Ocon in Spain and Abu Dhabi. Hirakawa's experience, including recent testing of the VF-25 car, is expected to enhance the team's performance, as they currently sit sixth in the constructors' championship. His transition from Alpine to Haas reflects strategic moves within the F1 paddock, with Hirakawa expressing excitement for the new opportunity. Team principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted Hirakawa's detailed feedback during testing as a valuable asset for the team.
