Frontier Airlines Launches 20 New Routes Across Major US Cities
Frontier Airlines is expanding its low-cost travel options by launching 20 new routes from major U.S. cities, including four new flights to and from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport starting in early 2026. These routes include twice-weekly flights from Dallas, Baltimore, and Detroit to New Orleans, a city known as the “Paris of America” for its rich French-inspired culture and vibrant tourism appeal. This expansion is part of Frontier's strategy to grow its market share amid financial struggles faced by rival Spirit Airlines and Southwest Airlines' new baggage fees, which have shifted customer preferences toward price competitiveness. Frontier plans to begin service to Fort Lauderdale from multiple cities starting November 2025 while adjusting capacity on existing routes. The airline aims to become the leading low-fare carrier in the top 20 U.S. metro areas by capitalizing on its affordable fares and new market opportunities. Additionally, Frontier is also adding routes from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, complementing Southwest Airlines’ own expansion there.
