Minneapolis School Shooting Kills 2, Wounds 17 Including Nurse’s Daughter

A mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and Church in Minneapolis left two children dead and 17 people injured, including 14 children. Among the critically wounded is 12-year-old Sophia Forchas, who was shot during the attack and underwent emergency surgery at a hospital where her mother, Amy Forchas, works as a pediatric critical care nurse. Amy Forchas arrived at work to assist with the influx of victims before realizing her daughter was among those injured. Sophia's younger brother was also present during the shooting but was not physically harmed, though he is coping with the trauma of the event. The Forchas family, members of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, have received widespread prayers and support, and a GoFundMe campaign has been established to help cover medical and related expenses. Authorities confirmed that the gunman, armed with multiple firearms, opened fire during morning Mass, and all surviving victims are expected to recover.
