Nabha Jailbreak Mastermind Extradited from Hong Kong

Ramanjit Singh, alias Romy, the mastermind behind the 2016 Nabha jailbreak, has been extradited from Hong Kong and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by an Indian court. His extradition was facilitated by a joint operation involving the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Punjab Police, based on treaty agreements that prevented police from seeking his remand. Romy is accused of coordinating the jailbreak that resulted in the escape of six criminals, including two terrorists, providing logistical and financial support for the operation. Following his medical examination, he was placed in the high-security zone of New Nabha jail, where he awaits trial for two cases related to the jailbreak. The police had initiated extradition proceedings against him in 2018 and secured a Red Notice through INTERPOL. Romy had been arrested in Hong Kong for other offenses before being returned to India.
