Passenger Assaults Ibom Air Crew, Disrupts Lagos Flight

A female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos caused a disturbance at Murtala Muhammed International Airport by allegedly assaulting a flight attendant and confronting airport security officials. The incident, captured in videos shared on X, showed the woman visibly agitated, yelling at officials and reportedly slapping a female cabin crew member, drawing attention from travelers and staff before police intervened to restore order. Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), attributed the altercation to the passenger's refusal to comply with crew instructions, specifically routine safety procedures such as switching off mobile devices during takeoff and landing. Achimugu emphasized that passengers have responsibilities alongside rights and urged compliance with crew directives to avoid such incidents. This episode follows closely behind the NCAA's recent six-month flight ban on popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM1, for alleged in-flight misconduct. Further details on the incident were expected to be addressed by the NCAA in subsequent communications.
