CPSC, J&D Recall 357,000 Bio Ionic Irons

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and J&D Brush/Bio Ionic have recalled about 357,000 Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons in the United States and roughly 3,000 in Canada after reports that the barrel can detach and pose a burn hazard. The recall covers model LXT-CL-1.0 with date codes 0722–1223, sold from August 2022 through July 2024 for about $165 at Amazon, Bioionic.com, Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom, SalonCentric and at salons and beauty supply stores. Regulators have received 258 reports of the barrel detaching, including six minor burn injuries. Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug affected irons, check the model number on the handle and the date code on the plug prongs, and register on Bio Ionic’s recall page to receive a free replacement; owners will be asked to cut off the plug and return it using a prepaid shipping label.
