PM Modi Highlights Ahmedabad's Rise as Concert, Tourism Hub with $720M Development

He praised the city's hosting of the historic Coldplay concert in January 2025, which attracted over 2.5 lakh attendees and sold 1.3 lakh tickets, marking Ahmedabad as a significant centre in the concert economy. Modi noted the city's recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage City and its capacity to host large-scale events, demonstrated by the Narendra Modi stadium with a seating capacity of over 100,000. He lauded Gujarat's progress driven by two decades of dedicated efforts, including advancements in cleanliness and safety, contrasting with the city's past marked by unrest and curfews. Alongside these developments, Gujarat is organizing extensive National Sports Day celebrations at district and taluka levels, promoting fitness and unity, with involvement from various state departments. The government aims to blend enthusiasm for sports with wellness initiatives, reflecting Ahmedabad's broader commitment to becoming a premier destination for both cultural and sporting events.
