The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken disciplinary action against two engineers following the tragic deaths of three IAS aspirants in a flooded coaching centre basement in Old Rajinder Nagar. An assistant engineer was suspended and a junior engineer was terminated amid ongoing police investigations into the MCD's role in the incident, which occurred after heavy rains caused the basement to inundate. The deceased, identified as Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni, and Nevin Dalwin, drowned on Saturday evening. The police have arrested several individuals, including the coaching centre owner, and are examining the adequacy of drainage maintenance by the MCD. Allegations also surfaced regarding the illegal use of the basement for commercial purposes. The MCD's actions represent its first significant response to the incident, which has sparked protests from students.
