Croatia to Send Tanks to Ukraine, Buy Leopards

Croatia has signed a letter of intent with Germany to acquire up to 50 Leopard 2A8 tanks, facilitating the transfer of 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. The deal, announced by Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anušić and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, aims to modernize Croatia's military while supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression. Financial compensation from Germany for the military equipment sent to Ukraine will reduce the overall cost of the new Leopard tanks, with implementation expected to begin soon. Croatia has previously provided significant military aid to Ukraine, totaling over 200 million euros since the onset of the conflict. The Leopard 2A8, known for its advanced capabilities, will enhance Croatia's defense posture and operational readiness. The agreement signals a strengthening of military cooperation between Croatia and Germany, supporting NATO's common standards.
