Canada's Buchanan Completes Permanent Villarreal Transfer

Canadian international Tajon Buchanan has completed a permanent transfer to Villarreal, signing a five-year contract after initially joining the LaLiga club on loan from Inter Milan in February 2025. The 26-year-old midfielder and winger, known for his physical power, speed, and ability to both score and assist, joined Villarreal for a reported fee of around €9 million. Buchanan made 13 appearances for Villarreal last season, contributing to their fifth-place finish, and has earned 51 caps for the Canadian national team. His move follows a stint at Inter Milan, which he joined from Club Brugge in January 2024, including making history as the first Canadian to score in Serie A. This permanent switch is seen as a key step in Buchanan’s development ahead of the 2026 World Cup and strengthens Villarreal's squad as they prepare for their LaLiga season opener against Oviedo on August 15.
