PlayStation 5 Adds Apple Pay for Game Purchases

PlayStation 5 users can now use Apple Pay to purchase games and other content directly on their consoles, making PS5 the first current-generation console to support this payment method. During checkout, users select Apple Pay and scan a unique QR code displayed on their TV with an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or iPadOS 18, which then prompts the native Apple Pay interface for authentication via Face ID or Touch ID. This new payment option allows Apple Card users to earn 2% Daily Cash on their purchases. While this feature is currently available on PS5, Sony plans to roll it out to PS4 consoles through a future software update. Additionally, PlayStation’s PlayStation Stars rewards program offers free store credit points in May for booting up select popular PS Plus Extra games. These developments improve purchasing flexibility and provide incentives for PlayStation users ahead of major upcoming releases like Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
