Lebanon Leaders Demand Full Israeli Withdrawal, Seek UN Action

Lebanon's leadership, including President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Speaker Nabih Berri, has reiterated its demand for a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, labeling their continued presence as an occupation. Following Israel's refusal to comply with a withdrawal deadline, the leaders announced intentions to appeal to the UN Security Council and emphasized Lebanon's right to utilize all necessary means to secure Israel's exit. They highlighted the readiness of the Lebanese Army to take over security responsibilities in the south, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The officials condemned Israel's ongoing violations and reiterated their commitment to international resolutions while engaging with international monitors for the release of Lebanese detainees held by Israel. Additionally, during a separate meeting, President Aoun stressed the importance of Arab unity in addressing regional challenges and restoring Lebanon's role as a cultural and economic hub. He emphasized that Lebanon must not serve as a platform for attacks against any Arab nation, reaffirming its commitment to regional stability.
