Manchester City Women Sign Germany Midfielder Sydney Lohmann from Bayern

Manchester City Women have signed German international midfielder Sydney Lohmann from Bayern Munich on a three-year deal, with Lohmann expected to join after the Women’s Euro 2025. The 25-year-old Lohmann has won four Frauen-Bundesliga titles and a domestic double in 2024-25 during her nine years at Bayern, where she made 167 appearances and scored over 30 goals. Lohmann, who has 39 to 40 caps for Germany and has contributed to their successes including a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics and a runner-up finish at Euro 2022, cited personal growth and the opportunity to win a WSL title as key reasons for her move. Manchester City, finishing fourth in the WSL last season and missing out on Champions League qualification, are looking to rebuild under new management and view Lohmann as a pivotal player in their push for silverware.
